GEOINT Training
The main training courses developed inside our GEOINT Center are offered to external attendees, from military or civilian organizations, to familiarize/specialize them with subjects such as principles of image intelligence, digital image processing, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and imagery analysis of different categories of infrastructures/installations. It comprises practical exercises covering elements related to the IMINT/GEOINT products and procedures.
Name of Training: IMINT/GEOINT ANALYSIS AND EXPLOITATION (STANAG 3596 AR COMPLIANT).
Objectives: To provide knowledge and operational skills regarding Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) analysis and exploitation. GEOINT provides critical spatial information to a decision making process that is necessary for meaningful actions and decisions, based on the fusion or integration of multiple forms of data collected from satellite and airborne sensors, along with a wide variety of other digital geographic information. The course, which could be dynamically tailored according to the customer needs, is developed on three different levels:
basic, advanced, and expert.
Name of training: SAR IMAGERY PROCESSING AND ANALYSIS
Objectives:
Basic understanding of SAR imagery: physical and geometrical characteristics;
Characteristics of SAR images for GEOINT tasks;
Knowledge of the required tools for SAR data interpretation;
Practical interpretation skills: potential and limitations of SAR imagery;
Interpretation guidelines for several categories (e.g. STANAG 3596);
Understanding the complementary of SAR and optical imagery for GEOINT;
Knowledge of software solutions for SAR analysis;
Knowledge of SAR missions and specific products;
Ability to discriminate different SAR systems concerning their usability for GEOINT purposes.
Name of training:
TERRAIN ANALYSIS AND GIS APPLICATIONS
Objectives: To understand the importance of GIS in scientific investigations, resource management, and development planning. Environmental studies, geography, geology, planning, business marketing, and other disciplines have benefited from GIS tools and methods. An active GIS market has resulted in lower costs and continual improvements in GIS hardware, software, and data. These developments will lead to a much wider application of the technology throughout government, business, and industry. GIS and related technology will help analyze large datasets, allowing a better understanding of terrestrial processes and human activities to improve economic vitality and environmental quality.
* NOTE: the courses main language is English
Name of training: IN-SITU Courses
